Top seed and home favourite Chou Tien Chen made it through to the quarter-final’s of the Chinese Taipei Open on Thursday.
Chou thumped countryman Chu Han Chou 21-14, 21-12 in just 31 minutes to set up a clash with local player and ninth seed Lin Yu Hsien after he beat Malaysia's Giap Chin Goh 21-15, 21-11.
In a few other men's singles results, hometown second seed Tzu Wei Wang was too strong for countryman and 10th seed Hsueh Hsuan Yi, winning 21-15, 21-6.
In an upset, Malaysian 11th seed Daren Liew beat Taipei third seed Hsu Jen Hao 21-17, 21-17 and Thai eighth seed Khosit Phetpradap needed 46 minutes to down Korea Republic's Seung Hoon Woo 5-21, 21-12, 21-10.
In women's singles second round action, Third seed Goh Jin Wei of Malaysia thumped Korea Republic's Hyang Im Kim 21-6, 21-9 and in an upset, the unseeded Ga Eun Kim of the Korea Republic downed Chinese Taipei second seed HSU Ya Ching 25-23, 23-21.
In other upsets, Pai Yu Po of Chinese Taipei beat fifth-seeded countryman Lee Chia Hsin 13-21, 21-18, 21-16 in 58 minutes while Japan's Saena Kawakami cruised past Singapore's eighth seed Yeo Jia Min 21-11, 21-10.
