Kidambi shocks Son at Australian Open

India's unseeded Kidambi Srikanth shocked top-seeded Son Wan Ho of the Korea Republic in the second round of the Crown Group Australian Open taking place at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre on Thursday.

In a match lasting just under one-hour, Kidambi defeated Son 15-21, 21-13, 21-13 to set up a quarter-final clash against Indian countryman Sai Praneeth, who got past China's Huang Yuxiang 21-15, 18-21, 21-13 in a match that lasted 64 minutes.

In some other men's singles second round action, fourth seed Shi Yuqi of China downed Japan's Kanta Tsuneyama 21-13, 21-18, while in an upset, the unseeded Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus of Denmark cruised past Hong Kong's seventh seed Ng Ka Long Angus 21-9, 21-13.

Two former champion's from China, Chen Long and Lin Dan reached the quarter-final's without much trouble, Chen defeated Indonesia's Anthony Sinisuka Ginting 21-10, 21-13 and Lin got past Jonatan Christie of Indonesia 21-14, 21-19.
