Tournament favourite Chou Tien Chen is through to the semi-finals of the Macau Open after dispatching Muhammad Bayu Pangisthu in straight games.
The Taipei shuttler needed just 28 minutes to complete a 21-11, 21-12 victory and set up a semi-final meeting with China’s Huang Yuxiang.
Huang survived a tight battle with Lin Yu Hsien to emerge a 21-10, 13-21, 21-16 victor.
The other semi-final will see sixth seed Tzu Wei Wang, also from Taipei, take on China’s Zhao Jun Peng.
Tzu was a 21-13, 21-17 winner over Malaysia’s Chong Wei Feng, while Zhao was a 21-19, 21-9 winner over B. Sai Praneeth.
There was a big upset in the women’s draw as top seed Saina Nehwal suffered a 21-12, 21-17 defeat at the hands of China’s Zhang Yiman.
Zhang moves on to face her countrywoman Chen Yufei in the semi-finals, after the sixth seed beat Goh Jin Wei 21-14, 21-10.
The second semi-final sees Hong Kong third seed Cheung Ngan Yi take on another Chinese shuttler, Chen Xiaoxin.
Cheung eliminated seventh eed Xiaoyu Liang 21-17, 21-14, while Chen defeated Yue Han 21-15, 21-16.
