Seeds fall at US Open

The third-seeded Vittinghus accounted for top seed Chou Tien Chen 12-21, 21-11, 21-13 in 53 minutes to set up a clash with the unseeded Chong Wei who downed B Sai Praneeth of India 21-9, 21-17 in just 34 minutes.

In the women's singles, top seed Nozomi Okuhara of Japan defeated compatriot Sayaka Takahashi 21-18, 21-10. Sayaka Sato triumphed in an all-Japan semi-final, with the 24-year-old downing second seed Akane Yamaguchi 22-24, 21-11, 21-8.

The Indian pairing of Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy will face Junhui Li and Yuchen Liu of China in the men's double final. The duo from India registered an upset on Saturday, beating fourth seeds Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda of Japan 21-17 21-17, while Li and Liu defeated Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi of Japan.

In the women's doubles, fifth seeds Yu Yang and Zhong Quanxin defeated Naoko Fukuman and Kurumi Yanao 21-18 21-5, while Ayane Kurihara and Naru Shinoya beat the fourth-seeded pairing of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa 21-17, 21-11.

In the mixed doubles, there was a surprise result, with top seeds Michael Fuchs and Birgit Michels beaten 21-13 12-21 21-15 by Huang Kaixiang and Huang Dongping of China. The Chinese duo will face the second seeds, Lee Chun Hei Reginald and Chau Hoi Wah of Hong Kong in the final.
