Lee downs O Jorgensen, reaches Korea quarters

Korea Republic's Lee Hyun Il caused an upset when beating third-seeded Jan O Jorgensen to reach the quarter-finals of the Victor Korea Open in Seoul on Thursday.

The unseeded Lee needed 65 minutes to defeat the Dane 18-21, 21-18, 21-13 to set up a clash against Ajay Jayaram of India after he downed China's Huang Yuxiang 21-15, 21-18.

In some other men's second-round action, fourth seed Tian Houwei of China beat Korea Republic's Seo Seung Jae 14-21, 21-5, 21-16 in 60 minutes, while sixth seed Son Wan Ho of Korea Republic cruised past India's B. Sai Praneeth 21-9, 21-15.

Korea Republic's Heo Kwang Hee needed 56 minutes to battle past German Marc Zwiebler 17-21, 21-13, 21-13.    

In women's second-round action, China's Chen Yufei caused an upset when she defeated Thai third seed Ratchanok Intanon 21-17, 21-17 and fourth seed Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei beat Korea Republic's Kim Na Young 21-15, 19-21, 21-13.

Fifth seed Sung Ji Hyun of Korea Republic cruised past Denmark's Anna Thea Madsen 21-15, 21-14 and in an all Japan clash seventh seed Akane Yamaguchi beat Sayaka Sato 21-6, 21-17.

Japan's Minatsu Mitani needed 65 minutes to battle past He Bingjiao of China 18-21, 21-19, 21-16.
