A building company has rewarded Lee Chong Wei with a $500 000 apartment following his silver medal at the Rio Olympic Games.
The Malaysian superstar was on the cusp of securing the nation’s first ever gold medal after he defeated long-time rival Lin Dan in the semi-finals in Rio.
However, Chong Wei would lose to an indomitable Chen Long in the final and was forced to settle for silver, one of four Malaysia won at the Games.
To honour his efforts, Orlando Holdings Sdn Bhd awarded Chong Wei the mock keys to his apartment in a small ceremony held on Friday.
Once constructed, the 1100 square foot apartment will have three bedrooms, come fully furnished and boast views of the Kuala Lumpur city centre.
