Chinese Taipei's fifth seed Chou Tien Chen defeated Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand to reach the men's quarter-finals of the Yonex Chinese Taipei Open on Thursday.
Chou thumped ninth seed Ponsana 21-16, 21-11 to set up a match against Hong Kong's 10th seed Wong Wing Ki Vincent, who caused an upset by beating China's fourth seed Tian Houwei 21-18, 21-10.
In other men's third-round results, unseeded Qiao Bin of China beat Hong Kong sixth seed Ng Ka Long Angus 21-12, 21-10 while eighth seed Wei Nan of Hong Kong needed 58 minutes to battle past China's Shi Yuqi 21-19, 6-21, 21-19.
In a battle, Thai 12th seed Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk needed an hour to overcome Chinese Taipei's Hsueh Hsuan Yi 12-21, 21-17, 21-14 and 13th seed Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin of Malaysia beat countryman Daren Liew 23-21, 19-21, 23-21.
Thailand's Khosit Phetpradab beat Vladimir Malkov of Russia 7-21, 21-16, 21-10.
