Tian reaches Chinese Taipei Open third round

Fourth seed Tian Houwei of China cruised into the men's singles third round of badminton's YONEX Open Chinese Taipei on Wednesday.

Tian needed just 25 minutes to crush Indonesia's Henrikho Kho Wibowo 21-8, 21-7 to set up a match with tenth seed Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong, who hammered Chinese Taipei's Hsu Jui Ting 21-11, 21-8.

More men's second round results – Chinese Taipei fifth seed Chou Tien Chen beat Indonesia's Fikri Ihsandi Hadmadi 21-12, 21-8 and sixth seed Ng Ka Long Angus of Hong Kong was made to work hard when defeating India's Sourabh Varma 21-16, 11-21, 21-15 in a match lasting 49 minutes.    

In an upset, unseeded Subhankar Dey of India destroyed Hong Kong seventh seed Hu Yun 21-13, 21-8 in 22 minutes while eighth seed Wei Nan of Hong Kong needed 46 minutes to defeat countryman Lee Cheuk Yiu 14-21, 21-14, 21-17.

Thai ninth seed Boonsak Ponsana got past Korea Republic's Seung Jae Seo 21-18, 21-18 and in an upset unseeded Qiao Bin of China needed 55 minutes to get past 11th seed Hsu Jen Hao of Chinese Taipei 21-16, 21-14.    

Thai 12th seed Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk defeated Abhishek Yelegar of India 21-18, 21-17 and 16th seed Tzu Wei Wang of Chinese Taipei got past Indonesia's Muhammad Bayu Pangisthu 21-12, 21-9 in 27 minutes.
