Lin crashes in Indonesia

Unseeded Jonatan Christie of Indonesia caused a big upset when defeating China’s second seed Lin Dan to reach the quarter-finals of the BCA Indonesia Open in Jakarta on Thursday.

Christie needed just 36 minutes to cruise past Lin 21-12, 21-12.

China’s sixth seed Tian Houwei battled past Germany’s Marc Zwiebler, winning 17-21, 21-11, 21-13 in a match lasting 55 minutes.

In another upset, unseeded Wang Zhengming of China defeated seventh seed Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei 22-20, 21-11 and Englishman Rajiv Ouseph beat Hong Kong’s Wei Nan 11-21, 26-24, 21-15.

Fifth seed Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark comfortably beat Hong Kong’s Wong Wing Ki Vincent 21-16, 21-16 while Indonesia’s Ihsan Maulana Mustofa got past Huang Yuxiang of China 21-18, 21-15.
