The Korea Republic reached the final of the women’s Uber Cup after defeating Japan 3-1 at the Kunshan Sports Centre on Friday.
In the opening singles match Sung Ji Hyun of Korea beat Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara 21-13, 21-13 in a match lasting 47 minutes.
The Korean’s went two matches up when they won the first doubles clash after Jung Kyung Eun and Shin Seung Chan needed 81 minutes to defeat Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi 21-19, 15-21, 21-16.
Japan were back in contention when Akane Yamaguchi won the match against Korea’s Bae Yeon Ju who retired injured with Akane leading 21-17, 9-7.
The Korea Republic then clinched their spot in the final against China when they won the second doubles match after Chang Ye Na and Lee So Hee beat Japan’s Naoko Fukuman and Kurumi Yonao 21-15, 21-14 in 53 minutes.
