Denmark reach Thomas Cup final

Denmark booked their place in the final of the Thomas Cup after coming from two games down to beat Malaysia 3-2 at the Kunshan Sports Centre on Friday.

Malaysia started off well winning the first singles match when Lee Chong Wei defeated Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen 23-21, 21-18 in a match lasting 54 minutes.

In the first doubles match, Malaysia doubled their lead when Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong beat Mathias Boe and Mads Conrad-Petersen 21-18, 21-18.

In the second singles match, Denmark were the winners when Hans-Kristian Vittinghus defeated Zainuddin Iskandar Zulkarnain of Malaysia 21-18, 21-18.

Denmark then were even when they were the winners in the second doubles match after Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen downed Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong 10-21, 21-8, 21-13 in a match lasting 59 minutes.

In the deciding singles match, Denmark were victorious when Emil Holst beat Chong Wei Feng of Malaysia 21-15, 21-18 to set up a final against Indonesia who defeated the Korea Republic in the other semi-final.
