World number one Carolina Marin is yet to win World Superseries Finals title, but she believes that having a confident mindset will help her triumph at this week's season finale.
Marin has won six titles this season, including the World Championships in Jakarta in August, and will now be looking to end her Superseries campaign on a high in Dubai.
However, the Spaniard acknowledged that winning the competition will be no easy feat since she has been grouped with world number two Saina Nehwal, Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara and defending champion Tai Tzu-ying of Chinese Taipei.
“It’s always going to be tough in these sort of tournaments, and I know that I have to do my best to win,” she told reporters on Monday. “Meeting difficult players early in the tournament is not going to be easy, but I don’t worry too much about who my opponent is, I just care about how well I can play.
“I think of myself as my toughest opponent. But if I can control my mind I think I can beat all of my opponents.”
While Marin is determined to win her first World Superseries Finals trophy, the Spaniard added that she wants to have fun in the process.
“So it’s going to be like a game against myself because I know that I can perform well when I want to,” she said. “But I also want to enjoy myself because I think that’s necessary in sport.”
