The Chinese contingent did not disappoint in the final of the Dong Feng Citroen Badminton Asia Championships on Saturday, with Li Xuerui and Wang Yihan both winning their semi-final matches.
Top seed Li was up against seventh seed Sung Ji Hyun of South Korea, and after coming through a tight first game she pulled away in the second to secure a 22-20, 21-11 victory.
Li led by as many as seven points midway through game one, but Sung did superbly to narrow the gap and level the scores at 18-18.
Li made all her experience count, however, as she snatched the last couple of points to go one game up, and then had the measure of her opponent in the second.
The other semi-final saw sixth seed Wang Yihan beat fifth seed Saina Nehwal of India 21-16, 21-14.
Like Sung, Nehwal was competitive in the first game, and briefly enjoyed a 9-6 lead, but Wang grew more imposing as the match progressed.
She would go on to win the first game convincingly and lead the second from start to finish to set up a final appearance against her compatriot Li.
