Top seed Chen Long and second-seeded Lin Dan both reached the men’s singles quarter-finals of the Dong Feng Citroen Asia Championships on Thursday in Wuhan, China.
China’s Chen cruised past Zulfadli Zulkiffli of Malaysia 21-12, 21-10 to set up a quarter-final clash against seventh seed Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia after he beat Thailand’s Boonsak Ponsana 21-17, 21-9.
Lin of China had few issues defeating Vietnam’s Tien Minh Nguyen 21-13, 21-11 in 39 minutes and will be up against Korea Republic’s Lee Dong Keun, who beat Hu Yun of Hong Kong 21-11, 17-21, 21-14 in a match lasting 73 minutes.
In other second round matches completed, third seed Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia needed 52 minutes to get past Hong Kong’s Wong Wing Ki Vincent 23-21, 21-12 while Tzu Wei Wang of Taiwan needed 62 minutes to defeat Christie Jonatan of Indonesia 21-9, 15-21, 21-18.
China’s fifth seed Tian Houwei downed Hong Kong’s Ng Ka Long Angus 21-18, 21-14 while sixth seed Chou Tien Chen of Taiwan beat Japan’s Takuma Ueda 21-18, 21-13.
