Badminton fans around the world will be treated a dream clash as Chen Long will face Lin Dan in the final of the Bonny China Masters on Sunday.
On Saturday, the Chinese duo both recorded wins in their semi-final clashes at the Xincheng Gymnasium in the Olympic Sports Center.
However, it almost wasn’t to be for Long, as he was forced to survive a second game comeback from Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk to eventually win 21-15, 19-21, 21-14.
The top seed dominated the opening game but let the Thai native back in the contest in the second.
The decider was a tense affair, with Long getting a run of points after scores were locked at six-all. While Saensomboonsuk won five consecutive points later to close the gap, it was too little too late.
Meanwhile, five-time world champion Dan would concede the lead just once in his two games against Lin Guipu, cruising to a comfortable 21-13, 21-15 win to set up a clash with Long.
Dan leads the head-to-head with Long 7-2, with the latter’s two wins coming in 2015.
