Top seeds Carolina Marin and Nozomi Okuhara are safely through to the second round of the OUE Singapore Open in Singapore City.
Marin was first in action, and the Spaniard was dominant throughout in her 21-12, 21-9 victory over Lindaweni Fanetri of Indonesia, never one trailing during the match.
Japan’s Okuhara was even more dismissive of her Indonesion opponent, Susanto Yulia Yosephin, racing to a 21-5, 21-9 victory in just 27 minutes.
Next up for Marin is Thailand’s Nitchaon Jindapol, while Okuhara moves on to face China’s Sun Yu.
Also advancing on Wednesday was Thai third seed Ratchanok Intanon, who defeated Taipei’s Hsu Ya Ching 21-16, 21-19, and fifth seed Wang Yihan of China, who was a 21-15, 21-15 winner over Bae Yeon Ju of South Korea.
The only seed to drop out was Tai Tzu Ying, the Taipei shuttler and seventh seed going down 19-21, 21-17, 21-17 to China’s He Bingjiao.
