Srikanth Kidambi and Parupalli Kashyap progressed to the second round of the Syed Modi International Championships on Wednesday.
Kidambi hardly broke a sweat as he thrashed Vatannejad Soroush Eskandari of Iran 21-4, 21-10 in just under 20 minutes in his first round match at Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium. He will now meet Joo Ven Soong of Malaysia in the second round.
It was much of the same when fourth seeded Kashyap took on Oscar Bansal. The former needing just 27 minutes to claim a 21-18, 21-11 victory. He will play Zi Liang Derek Wong of Singapore next.
Elsewhere Ajay Jayaram, Sameer Verma, Anand Pawar, Sourabh Verma and B Sai Parneeth all advanced without any major scares.
However, fifth seed HS Prannoy and RMV Gurusaidutt were both knocked-out in surprising results.
