Malaysian shuttler Lee Chong Wei believes that Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin has proven his worth this year and should be part of the Thomas Cup team next year.
Iskandar was crowned the men’s singles national champion last week and won three titles in 2015, which came at the Singapore International Series in August, Polish International in September and Swiss International in October.
However, should Iskandar be given a spot on the Thomas Cup team, Chong Wei wants the 24-year-old to keep training hard and winning titles.
“He has shown a different attitude in training and I certainly hope he keeps that up,” Chong Wei told The Star. “With the Thomas Cup next year, Iskandar should be good enough for a place in the team. But he should not take it for granted.
“He’s still not at my level yet but he should take it as a motivation to train harder.”
The 2016 Thomas Cup will be held in Kunshan, China from May 15 to 22.
