In other women's second round matches, second seed Carolina Marin of Spain destroyed Canada's Michelle Li 21-9, 21-12 in 31 minutes while South Korean third seed Sung Ji Hyun scraped past Yui Hashimoto of Japan 15-21, 21-6, 24-22 in 65 minutes.
Chinese seventh seed Wang Yihan had little trouble beating Minatsu Mitani of Japan 21-14, 21-10 and sixth seed Li Xuerui of China saw off Taiwan's Pai Yu Po 21-18, 21-14.
Fifth seed Wang Shixian of China was made to work hard to beat India's P.V. Sindhu 18-21, 21-18, 21-16 in 88 minutes and Japan's Nozomi Okuhara was too good for Chen Xiaoxin of China winning 21-16, 21-7.
Fourth seed Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan beat Japan's Akane Yamagushi 21-15, 21-19.
