Wales fans mock Real Madrid with hilarious flag following Gareth Bale's return from injury

On Saturday, a few Welsh fans were spotted with a hilarious flag mocking La Liga giants Real Madrid, during Saturday’s UEFA Euro 2020 qualifier game between Wales and Azerbaijan.

The flag which read “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order,” was clearly a reference to Gareth Bale, who was recently slammed by former Real Madrid striker Pedja Mijatovic, who insisted he was concerned about the player’s priorities.

In a column for the Spanish publication AS, Mijatovic had written: “The first thing he thinks about is Wales, then golf and after that, Real Madrid.”

As you can see in the photo below, the Montenegro international’s words then made their way into the comical flag:

Earlier, during the pre-match press conference ahead of the Wales-Azerbaijan game, Bale admitted that he is “more excited” about playing for his country than his club.

Upon asked if playing for Wales gave him more “joy”, the 30-year-old said: “Yes, definitely.”

“It’s like playing with your mates down the park on a Sunday. I’ve been with most of the older players since we were in Under-17s.”

“It’s normal – with Wales, I’m speaking my own language and feel more comfortable. I definitely have a bit more excitement playing with Wales,” he further added, before concluding:

“But it doesn’t change what I give on the pitch. I always give 100% on the pitch wherever I am.”

Reports: Inter Milan in talks with Barcelona for signing out-of-favour star

It has been reported that La Liga giants Barcelona and Serie A side Inter Milan have entered talks with each other, for the sale of Barca’s star right-back Nelson Semedo.

This is according to the Italian publication SempreInter, who claims that Gianluca Di Marzio, a reporter for Sky Sports Italia, revealed that Inter and Barcelona are keen to do business with each other during the upcoming summer transfer window.

“A month ago, Inter and Barcelona met to start drafting up deals for next summer. From now to June, Inter and Barcelona will strike a deal, but they are trying to figure out who the players will be,” Di Marzio was quoted as saying.

“Barcelona wants to sell Ivan Rakitic and sign Lautaro Martinez from Inter, but the Croatian is not a player that Antonio Conte likes and the Argentine is not on the market,” he further added, before concluding:

“Then there is Arturo Vidal, however Giuseppe Marotta (Inter Milan CEO) is not convinced about him and is mindful of some off-field issues the Chilean has. There will be deals involving other players maybe Nelson Semedo.”

Semedo has played 16 games for the Blaugranas this season – 12 of those appearances coming in the La Liga and four in the Champions League.

In September, the Portuguese star was injured during the international break, but he returned to the Catalans’ first-team quite quickly. However, he is still not a key part of Ernesto Valverde’s plans this season.

Reports: Liverpool star makes exit claim ahead of January transfer window

The latest word around the rumour mill is that Liverpool star Xherdan Shaqiri has informed his friends that he will leave the club next year.

It is Football Insider who claims that a source with knowledge of Shaqiri’s situation told them that he has “confided in those close to him” that he will look to move on at the end of the ongoing 2019-20 season.

The report further adds that he is interested to leave Liverpool at the earliest, but Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to get part ways with him during the upcoming January transfer window.

As per Football Insider‘s report, Shaqiri is aware of the fact that he will always remain Klopp’s secondary choice in attack, as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino cannot be replaced by him.

In an attempt to include him in the playing XI, Klopp has even used the Swiss attacker in deeper roles, particularly in the first half of last season.

And the 28-year-old returned from injury only recently, after more than a month out with a calf problem. He has only made three substitute appearances so far in the ongoing 2019-20 season – two in the Premier League and one in the UEFA Champions League.

Thiago Silva slams Lionel Messi for abusing Brazil coach Tite during Argentina win

On Saturday, Brazil centre-back Thiago Silva launched a scathing attack on Argentina talisman Lionel Messi for his behaviour with Brazil coach Tite during Argentina’s victory.

In case you missed it, Tite said he was told to shut up by Messi in the friendly clash between Brazil and Argentina on Friday.

“I complained because he [Messi] should have been shown a yellow card and he told me to shut my mouth and I told him to shut his mouth,” he said. “And that was it.”

Tite added: “I don’t want to answer anymore on it. You need a strong referee because he’ll swallow you… It should have been a card, I was right to complain.”

And later, PSG defender Silva accused Messi of showing signs of disrespect and also claimed that the 32-year-old influences referees and forces them to take decisions which are in his favour.

“He wanted to rule over the game,” he said, before adding:

“He kicked two people and the referee did nothing.”

“I argued with the referee and he kept laughing. You have to put admiration to one side.”

“He always looks to force the referee to give them free-kicks in dangerous areas, he always acts in that way. We spoke with some players who play in Spain and the same thing happens, he looks to control the game and the referee’s decisions.”

“He is our player who has had the most deals on the market, don’t imagine how many. The Turk was requested by AC Milan but was also approached by Manchester United,” he said, before adding:

“Juventus then signed him for €18million from Sassuolo, though his price was at first estimated to be around €40million.”

“I’m not worried at all [about transfer window speculation],” he said, after Portugal beat Lithuania 6-0 on Thursday in the 2020 UEFA Euro qualifiers.

He further added: “Since 2016, there’s been talk about my possible departure.”

“I’m well, doing my job and doing the best I can. I have dreams to fulfil but I have no need to force my departure.”

“I feel the love here and if I have to leave, I hope I leave good memories.”

Meanwhile, Express also claims that most of the talks on Manchester United’s potential move for Bruno Fernandes came from a Portugal, as Sporting attempted to drive up interest and his price-tag.

It remains to be seen whether United will continue to try for his signature during the January transfer window.

On-loan Arsenal star slams manager Unai Emery for poor tactics that stalled his progress at the club

In a recent interview, Arsenal’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan slammed manager Unai Emery, while also claiming that his tactics at the Emirates were one of the main reasons why his progress stalled at the club.

Mkhitaryan, who is currently on loan at Serie A side AS Roma, also said that he had to leave Arsenal in search of regular first-team football after he was not guaranteed of a starting position, at the start of the ongoing 2019-20 season.

“He paid more attention to tactics, so my role changed,” he was quoted as saying, by FourFourTwo.

The 30-year-old further added: “I was starting as a winger, but had to build play with the defensive midfielder. It’s why I couldn’t contribute as many goals or assists.”

“I like to play more freely and move wherever there’s space, but you have to do the job that the manager asks.”

“I couldn’t accept that I had to sit on the bench for some matches. I know my qualities and what I can do.”

“I’m 30-years-old now and I like to play football, not just sit on the bench and waste my time.”

“Emery and [head of football] Raul Sanllehi assured me I was important for Arsenal, but I signed for Roma because they believed in me more,” Mkhitaryan concluded.

The Armenia international has made seven appearances for Roma so far, and has recorded one goal and assist each till date.

Cristiano Ronaldo's sisters slam Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri for substituting him early against AC Milan

A few hours after Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 55th career hat-trick in the UEFA Euro 2020 Qualifier game between Portugal and Lithuania, the star forward’s sisters launched a scathing attack on Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri for substituting him early during the recent Serie A clash against AC Milan.

In case you missed it, 34-year-old Ronaldo was subbed off in the 55th minute during the Juventus-AC Milan match on Sunday. Obviously, the ex-Real Madrid and Manchester United ace was not happy at his boss’ decision, and was seen storming off into the dressing room immediately afterwards.

Later, Sarri insisted that the Portuguese star was struggling with a knee injury, but Ronaldo himself quashed those claims, saying that he was “very good.”

Instead of just making claims, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner also set about to prove his words, by netting a hat-trick against Lithuania – thereby sparking a reaction from his family as well.

One sister, Katia Aveiro wrote on Instagram with a picture of Ronaldo: “Don’t mess with him.”

Corriere dello Sport further reports that his other sister Elma added: “God does not fail. He is fit, so now what?”
