After a demoralizing loss against the defending champions, FEU has bounced back, as blasting UE in straight sets, 25-18, 25-22, 25-21, Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Tamaraws coach Reynaldo Diaz is proud of his team’s performance, especially after the Morayta spikers did not give an inch throughout the match.
“Ang goal talaga ay manalo in 3 (sets),” he said. “Magandang chance ito para yung morale ng mga bata tumaas. Kasi after ng game ng Ateneo, mahirap iangat yung morale nung younger players.”
Diaz reveals that it was through their weekly Bible study where the players got their motivation to rise again.
“Doon pumapasok ang motivational guidance ng coaches. We are guiding them through Biblical verses of God,” he shared.
Because of FEU’s outstanding performance against the Warriors, Diaz was able to utilize all except one of his players.
Team captain Joshua Barrica led his team with 10 points off 7 attacks, 2 blocks and an ace while Jude Garcia and Greg Dolor contributed 9 points apiece.
On the other hand, UE skipper Edward Camposano top-scored for the Warriors with 10 points, followed by Ruvince Abrot with 8 points. — By Arylle Magtalas
