NHL: Jagr on target as Bruins snap streak

Jaromir Jagr was on target as the Boston Bruins snapped a four-game winless streak with a 3-0 defeat of the Florida Panthers in the NHL's Eastern Conference.

Dougie Hamilton and Brad Marchand joined the 41-year-old on the scoresheet as the Bruins joined the Montreal Canadiens at the top of the North East Division.

Tuukka Rask stopped 28 shots for his fourth shut-out of the season for the Bruins, playing their second game in as many days at TD Garden following Friday's postponement in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings.

The New York Rangers saw off New Jersey 4-1, ending the Devils' play-off hopes and making sure their rivals will not successfully defend their Eastern Conference crown.

Ryan Johansen scored the winner with less than two minutes remaining, after Mark Letestu (2) and Vinny Prospal had also found the target.

Marty Havlat, Andrew Desjardins and Joe Pavelski scored for the Sharks, who needed to take the game to overtime to make sure of a play-off spot.

Jamie McGinn scored two goals as the Colorado Avalanche defeated the St Louis Blues 5-3 - maintaining an unbeaten home run against their opponents which now stretches back four years.

Anaheim's 3-1 win over Edmonton means the Oilers miss out on the play-offs for a seventh consecutive season. Cam Fowler, Kyle Palmieri and Corey Perry were on target at Rexall Place as the visitors ended a four-game losing run.

The Dallas Stars' already slim play-off hopes were dealt a blow by a 4-3 overtime loss at the hands of the LA Kings, who boosted their hopes of protecting their fourth seeding as a result, while the Calgary Flames defeated the Minnesota Wild 4-1 at Xcel Energy Center.
