NBA: Johnson spoils Bryant return

Amir Johnson scored 32 points as the Toronto Raptors spoiled Kobe Bryant's return to action by beating the Los Angeles Lakers 106-94.

Bryant had nine points and eight rebounds as he made his season debut, playing for the first time since tearing an Achilles tendon in April.

But Johnson and DeMar DeRozan, who scored 26 points, ensured it was not a happy return.

Kevin Durant's big day lifted the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 118-94 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

Durant had 36 points and 10 rebounds while Russell Westbrook added 26 points and 13 assists as the Thunder extended their home winning streak to start the season to 10 matches.

Dwight Howard had his first 20-20 game for Houston on his 28th birthday as his 20 points and 22 rebounds led the Rockets to a 98-88 win over the Orlando Magic.

The Boston Celtics were 114-73 winners over the New York Knicks, while the Miami Heat overcame the Detroit Pistons 110-95.
