NHL: Handzus gets Blackhawks back on track

Michal Handzus scored the winning goal in the second period as the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks got back on track with a 3-2 win over the New York Islanders.

Rookie Joakim Nordstrom scored his first NHL goal for the Blackhawks and Jonathan Toews also tallied, while Josh Bailey and Kyle Okposo were on target within a minute of each other at the end of the first for the Islanders.

The Blackhawks improved to 2-1-1 after losing their last two while the Islanders lost for the first time in regulation this season.

Tyler Seguin had a hand in every Dallas goal as the Stars beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-1.

Seguin had two goals and two assists, while Alex Chiasson and Jamie Benn also tallied.

Sean Monahan extended his scoring streak to four games with a third-period winner as the Calgary Flames beat the New Jersey Devils 3-2.

Dennis Wideman and Mark Giordano also scored for the Flames, who have taken at least a point from each of their first five games.

Angeles Kings edged out the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 and the Phoenix Coyotes were 2-1 winners over the Philadelphia Flyers.
