A9525261210196823A - Nets' Jefferson charged with assault
New Jersey Nets forward Richard Jefferson was charged with assault Wednesday.
The charge stems from Jefferson grabbing another man around the throat on January 27 in a club at the Graves Hotel. The Nets were in town to play the Minnesota Timberwolves at the time.
According to documents, Jefferson entered an area where the victim was having a private birthday and became angry when he was asked to leave. Jefferson is accused of grabbing the victim, shoving him to a bench and choking him with both hands.
A Nets spokesman refused to comment on the allegations. Jefferson has a court hearing set for June 18.
