Clarke wants Ryder Cup job

The Northern Irishman has played in seven Ryder Cups and wants to captain Europe's defence in America in 2016.

Clarke and Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez have both been linked to the position, with European Tour officials set to make the announcement as early as next Wednesday.

"If it's Miguel, I would be delighted for him, but I would love to do the job," Clarke told the BBC

"To be the captain is huge, but he is only there to steer the players. It's not about the captain, it's about the team."

The 2016 Ryder Cup, to be hosted by the United States at Hazeltine between September 30 and October 2.
