Poyet facing crunch talks

Sunderland lost 4-0 at the Stadium of Light, which prompted angry responses from some fans aimed towards Poyet in the dug-out. Poyet’s side are without a win in six and have just one victory in their last 12 Premier League games.

Reports suggest that Paul Lambert, the former Aston Villa manager and Sky Sports pundit Glenn Hoddle ??? who has not managed since he left Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2006 ??? are among those being considered as possible replacements.

Sam Allardyce and the much-travelled Dick Advocaat, who left his post as coach of Serbia in November, are others who are being touted for the post.

Should the board elect to act this week, they will be will be looking for their seventh manager in six years.
