Almagro marches on in Hamburg

Third seed Nicolas Almagro eased into the third round of the German Tennis Championships in Hamburg after seeing off the challenge of home favourite Tobias Kamke 6-3 6-3.

Germany's Florian Mayer was more successful, however, as he saw off the challenge of seventh seed Alexandr Dolgopolov 6-3 6-4, while Dmitry Tursunov overcame Jeremy Chardy 6-4 7-6 (7/1).

France's Benoit Paire came through his second round match against Albert Montanes 6-1 6-4 and Gael Monfils continued his return with a 6-3 6-3 win over Andrey Golubev in the first round.

Federico Delbonis also came through his first round match against Julian Reister 6-3 6-3 while Jan-Lennard Struff came from behind to beat Leonardo Mayer 3-6 6-4 6-4.

Robin Haas was another winner in the first round after he defeated Diego Sebastian Schwartzman 7-6 (7/3) 4-6 7-5, while Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, Marcel Granollers, Carlos Berlocq, Albert Ramos and Blaz Kavcic also came through their first matches.
