Caroline Wozniacki snapped her run of five straight defeats on clay by beating Britain's Laura Robson comfortably on Monday, but it proved to be just a temporary renaissance as she lost in the second round to Bojana Jovanovski.
Jovanovski also beat the 10th seed and former world number one in Rome two weeks ago despite struggling with injury and used her greater power to good effect today, winning 7-6 (7/2) 6-3.
The Serb will next play former champion Svetlana Kuznetsova, unseeded here and a three-set winner over Magdalena Rybarikova on Wednesday.
