Tsonga reaches last four in Stockholm

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga wasted little time claiming his place in the last four of the Stockholm Open, beating Sergiy Stakhovsky in straight sets.

The fifth seed with eyes only for the ball.

The top-seeded Frenchman could only convert three of 13 break point opportunities but that was enough to see him past his Ukrainian opponent 6-3 6-4 in one hour and 24 minutes.

Tsonga will next face seventh seed Marcos Baghdatis, who was on court for just five minutes longer in his 6-3 7-6 (7/4) quarter-final victory over Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania.

Second seed Tomas Berdych was another straight-sets winner in his last-eight match-up, the Czech having to work hard to beat Mikhail Youzhny 6-3 7-6 (7/2).

Berdych's semi-final opponent will be third seed Nicolas Almagro, who took just 66 minutes to record a 6-1 6-4 victory over former world number one Lleyton Hewitt 6-1 6-4.
