Tipsarevic through to quarters in Vienna

Serbian second seed Janko Tipsarevic eased into the quarter-finals of the Erste Open in Vienna on Thursday with a 6-3 6-4, 78-minute win over Latvia's Ernests Gulbis.

Tipsarevic, who still has hopes of muscling in a qualifying berth for the ATP Tour finals in London, will next face Slovenia's Aljaz Bedene - who beat American Donald Young 7-6 (7-4) 6-7 (7-2) 6-3.

Another Slovenian, qualifier Grega Zemlja, despatched Australian Matthew Ebden 7-5 6-4 and is next up against third seeded German Tommy Haas, who beat American Jesse Levine 6-4 6-2.

Australia's Marinko Matosevic beat Austrian wild-card Dominic Thiem 6-4 7-6 (7-5) and Italy's Paolo Lorenzi ended the run of Canadian qualifier Vasek Pospisil 6-4 6-4 in 87 minutes.
