Murray handed Shanghai walkover
Andy Murray was handed a walkover into the last 16 of the Shanghai Masters when scheduled opponent Florian Mayer withdrew.
The German cited a rib injury as the reason, tournament organisers said on Wednesday.
Murray, who as third seed received a first-round bye, will now meet Gilles Simon or Alexandr Dolgopolov for a place in the quarter-finals.
The US Open champion has won in Shanghai in each of the past two seasons but faces tough opposition for the title this year in the form of Roger Federer - his scheduled semi-final foe - and Novak Djokovic.
