Tipsaveric into last eight in Stuttgart

Top seed and world number eight Janko Tipsarevic eased through to the quarter-finals of the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart with a 6-4 6-2, 79-minute win over Belgium's 75-ranked Steve Darcis.

The Serb was put in the shade by Richard Gasquet

But Lukas Rosol's post-Wimbledon blues continued as he was dumped out in the second round by Germany's Bjorn Phau, who held his nerve to win via two tie-break sets 7-6 (7/3) 7-6 (7/2).

Rosol, who famously dumped Rafael Nadal out in the second round of Wimbledon, was broken once by Phau and failed to find a way through his opponent's serve as he slid to defeat.

German wild card Dustin Brown beat Frenchman Benoit Paire 7-6 (7/4) 4-6 6-1 while in an all-Spanish affair Guillermo Garcia-Lopez proved too good for fourth seed Pablo Andujar winning 6-1 4-6 6-1.
