Hewitt falls to Russell in Memphis quarters

American Michael Russell beat third seed Lleyton Hewitt to reach the semi-finals of the US National Indoor Championships in Memphis.

Hewitt stays in the running!

Neither player was at their best but Russell had the best of the first set, which he took by breaking his Australian opponent three times.

He then held firm to take the second on a tie-break and progress to a semi-final with top seed Kei Nishikori.

The Japanese number one was a 3-6 6-3 6-2 winner over Alex Bogomolov Jr.

Fourth seed Yen-Hsun Lu also booked his spot in the last four with a 6-1 6-4 victory over Alex Kuznetsov.
