The 23-year-old Nishikori eased to a 7-6 (7/4) 6-0 victory to set up a last-eight meeting with another Spaniard, sixth seed Nicolas Almagro, who was a 6-4 6-2 winner over Argentina's Horacio Zeballos.

Third seed Milos Raonic continued his fine form after last week's win in the Thailand Open, hitting 17 aces in a 6-4 6-3, 76-minute win over Frenchman Jeremy Chardy.

Next for Raonic is Slovakian lucky loser Lukas Lacko, a replacement for Michael Llodra in the main draw, who beat Edouard Roger-Vasselin 7-5 6-4.
