Caroline Wozniacki has revealed that she opted to feature in the ASB Classic despite having a number of other tournaments to choose from.
Wozniacki, who will kick off her campaign against Nicole Gibbs, turned down the opportunity to compete in the Brisbane International and Shenzhen Open in order to play in the tournament in Auckland.
When asked why she decided to choose the ASB Classic, the Dane said: "I mean I think you look at your schedule and you just think where do you want to play, and to me, I really enjoy this tournament, it's very chill and it's a good atmosphere and a good crowd."
The world number 19 is coming off a turbulent campaign in 2016, where she started off with a plethora of disappointing results but began to turn things around at the US Open, where she reached the semi-finals.
After that, she went on to win the Toray Pan Pacific Open and Hong Kong Open before concluding her season with a quarter-final appearance at the Luxembourg Open in October.
