The current European super middleweight champion is ranked No 3 in the world by the WBC but he will face a tough test against an experienced opponent.
"Zuniga is a big test for me as he has only lost to world class opponent's in Kelly Pavlik, Lucian Bute and Tavaros Cloud," DeGale told the promoter's website, Hennessy Sports.
"More recently he went 12 rounds with the highly world ranked South African Thomas Oosthuizen, so it shows he is world class and a dangerous opponent."
Promoter Mick Hennessy was keen to emphasise how far DeGale has come in a short time in the professional ranks.
"In only 14 fights, for James to be European champion and now fighting for the WBC Silver belt shows the phenomenal talent he has," he said.
"Styles make fights and these two are going to gel to make an impressive fight."
Zuniga, who has been fighting at world-class level for five years, is also anticipating an explosive contest, although he remains confident he will come through victorious.
"I want to fight James DeGale because it gives me the opportunity to win against an Olympic gold medallist," he said.
"I have fought the best in the world but DeGale does not have my experience so I will win this fight.
"He has lost before and he will lose again to me. I am a pressure fighter and I will pressure him in the ring until he gives in."
