Cycling: Time-trial success for Arndt

Germany's Judith Arndt successfully defended her women's elite time-trial title at the UCI Road World Championships in Holland.

Arndt, who has announced she will retire after the championships, completed the 24.3-kilometre route in Limburg in 32 minutes 26.46 seconds to claim victory by a supreme margin.

Evelyn Stevens of the United States was second in 33mins 00.23secs, with New Zealand's Linda Villumsen third in 33:07.03.

Great Britain's Emma Pooley, the 2010 world champion, had to settle for fourth place in 33:15.79, with her compatriot Wendy Houvenaghel finishing in 34:43.97 to place 14th.
