IAAF: Wariner set for Ostrava 300m
Jeremy Wariner will make his final appearance before the US Olympic trials at the IAAF Grand Prix Golden Spike meeting in Ostrava on June 12.
Wariner will run over 300 metres for the first time at the Czech Republic venue before taking part in the "sudden-death" trials, where the first three past the post earn automatic selection for Beijing.
The trials will take place in Eugene between June 27 and July 6.
"I'm looking forward to my first ever 300m," said the reigning 400m Olympic champion.
"I am ready to run a great time. This is a great way to see where I'm at right before the US trials."
Wariner will face a tough challenge to match the world's fastest time of 30.85 seconds achieved by his mentor, Michael Johnson, at altitude in Pretoria eight years ago.
But he could get close to the sea-level performance of fellow American LaShawn Merritt, who clocked 31.31secs on the Eugene track in August 2006.
"As for the record, Michael ran a really fast time so I'm just trying to go out there and run fast and do the best I can," added Wariner.
