The 29-year-old is now a two-time winner of the event after clocking a time of 49.41 seconds - a mark which broke Kathy Cook's British record.
It was the record she claims she was chasing more than the gold.
"I needed to aim high, for something really, really high," she told talkSPORT.
"It's a great achievement. Every medal, every win has a story behind it.
"It's really great - and so are the other medals - but this one is special because it is a record.
"It was the record I was after more than a win. I just wanted to come away with the record."
