Burnley boss Dyche hits the bar

Burnley’s stunning start to the season has seen manager Sean Dyche earn plenty of plaudits after taking the Clarets into the top six, one point ahead of Tottenham.

But Dyche could receive a permanent legacy in Burnley, if he leads the club into the Europa League this season.

The owners of a bar close to Burnley’s Turf Moor ground have promised to rename it to ‘The Dyche’ if he can guide the unfancied club into Europe for the first time in their history.

Management at the Princess Royal pub had already pledged to give Dyche free drinks for life after leading Burnley into the Premier League 18 months ago.

But now they have decided to up the stakes after Burnley have banished pre-season fears of a relegation scrap so spectacularly.

It’s far from inconceivable that Burnley could qualify for the Europa League after Wednesday’s win at Bournemouth left them just three points off the top four.
