Pedrosa refreshed ahead of Indy challenge

Dani Pedrosa heads to Indianapolis feeling rested and refreshed as he prepares to renew hostilities in the battle for the MotoGP World Championship.

The Repsol Honda rider currently lies second in the riders' championship, 23 points behind leader Jorge Lorenzo with eight races remaining.

The Spaniard finished third at the last round at Laguna Seca as team-mate Casey Stoner took the win ahead of Yamaha's Lorenzo.

The teams and riders have had a mid-season break since then, and Pedrosa is raring to go at a track where he won in 2010 and where he should have won in 2009 when he crashed out while holding a handy lead.

He said: "I had a very good summer break; in these two weeks I was able to relax a little, enjoy time with friends and get back into my training.

"At this time of year, Indianapolis is normally very hot so fitness is always key.

"I enjoy riding at this track and I've had good results in the past.

"I am really looking forward to this race and will fight to win and maintain the consistency we have showed in the first part of the championship".

Lorenzo, meanwhile, heads to Indy fresh from finding out that his team-mate for 2013 will be nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi, who is to return to the Japanese manufacturer after a nightmare spell with Ducati.

But before the pair are reunited, the Spaniard is looking to sew up his second title in the top class, although he knows an improvement from last year's race, where he finished fourth after struggling with the handling of his bike, will be required.

"I really enjoy riding the Indy track, and have good memories here from my podiums in 2008 and 2010 and my great win in 2009," he said.

"Last year I really struggled with grip in the race so I hope we can improve that this year. I've had a nice break but also been training to make sure I'm fit for this weekend."
