Raikkonen fine despite accident

Lotus Renault say Kimi Raikkonen is "absolutely fine" after the 2007 Formula One world champion suffered a fall in a snowmobile race in Austria on Saturday.

The team confirmed that Raikkonen suffered a minor wrist injury that may require further analysis after the weekend, but were confident there was no lasting damage done.

"Kimi went off during a snowmobile competition in Austria today [Saturday] but he's absolutely fine," Renault said on the team's official Twitter feed.

A second Tweet added: "We just spoke to Kimi. There's nothing to worry about, he only has a sore wrist. He might have it checked again on Monday, but that's all."

Raikkonen only signed for the team last week after two years away from F1, during which time he raced in the World Rally Championship.

The 32-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with Renault - which from next season will be called Lotus.

Renault signed Raikkonen ostensibly as the replacement for Robert Kubica, who was ruled out of the whole of the 2011 season and at least the start of next after suffering serious injuries in a rallying accident in February.
