F1 stars try their hand at football

The Italian Grand Prix is just days away, but on Thursday the pit straight at Monza was transformed into a five-a-side football pitch as leading F1 drivers took on a team of Champions League legends in a charity match.

Fernando Alonso, Max Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo, Sergio Perez and Jolyon Palmer teamed up to do battle against Robert Pires, Michel Salgado, David Trezeguet, Christian Karembeau, and Dida.

The 30-minute match turned into a goal feast, and a good thing too, with €1,000 donated to the Italian earthquake disaster fund for every goal scored.

Let’s hope that come the weekend the drivers do better on track then they did on the pitch!
