Ducati Team rider Andrea Iannone is looking for a big improvement at this weekend’s MotoGP event at San Marino.
In his last race at Silverstone, the Italian finished outside the top six for the first time this season, when he finished eighth in the wet conditions at the British GP.
Iannone will be expecting to do well in his home Grand Prix especially after he and the Ducati team did testing at Misano recently.
In last year’s race, Iannone finished fifth and has had two podium finishes when racing in Moto2 previously.
In a chat with motogp.com, Iannone said he was happy to be back racing on his home circuit.
"I am very happy to come back and race in Italy. Misano is one of our home circuits, just like Mugello, and, in general, it's a positive track for me.
"We think we can be fast and competitive throughout the weekend and we'll try and bring home a good result.
"Of course racing in front of my fans and the entire diehard Ducatisti will be extra motivation to do well and so I can't wait to get out on track," he added.
