The Nerazzurri eased to a comfortable victory over Serie A opposition Pescara thanks to goals from Rodgrio Palacio and Fredy Guarin. Three points picked up at the San Siro on Saturday helped Inter Milan close the gap on Lazio, who play Atalanta on Sunday.
However, it was not all smiles from Inter as Antonio Cassano was visibly displeased at his manager's decision to take him off in place of new signing Tommaso Rocchi midway through the second-half. Nonetheless, Stramaccioni told the club's official website that the forward's reaction was not out of the ordinary.
"I think that's perfectly normal, it was at a time of the game when we were creating lots and he wanted to score. It shows how much he cares about the shirt and the team. I thought it was the right moment to give Rocchi his first game at the San Siro and get some minutes in him," he explained.
"Do Antonio and I need to clear things up? No, there's nothing to clear up at all. We added to our striking options precisely so that we can rest our forwards a bit more. Not being able to do that much was one of the problems we had in the first half of the season."
The Inter boss also took the time to praise central defender Cristian Chivu, a player he believed brought much needed stability from the back.
"Having Chivu back in the side boosts our creativity when building from the back and, as I said, compared to some of the other games we've played against sides who have come here to park the bus, we didn't get caught out on the counter as we have before," Stramaccioni noted.
"We were solid tonight [Saturday] and I think that's another sign that Inter are determined to get going again."
Inter Milan travel to Roma for their Serie A fixture next Sunday.
