Simon upsets Tipsarevic in Bangkok
Fourth seed Gilles Simon stunned top seed Janko Tipsarevic in the semi-finals of the ATP PTT Thailand Open and will face fellow Frenchman Richard Gasquet in the Bangkok final.
Simon, the 2009 champion, was only able to capitalise on two of the 10 break points he earned, but that was enough for the 27-year-old to see off the Serbian world number nine 6-4 6-4 in one hour 45 minutes and advance to his 13th ATP Tour final on Sunday.
Second seed Gasquet recovered from a set down to topple Finnish seventh seed Jarkko Nieminen 3-6 7-5 6-2.
World number 12 Gasquet has not lost against Simon, ranked 17th, in their five previous ATP Tour encounters.
