England's Chris Wood sank a 12-foot eagle putt on the final hole of the Qatar Masters to grab his first European Tour title in brilliant fashion on Saturday.

Three clear of the field overnight, the 25-year-old fell two behind after a shaky start and with one to play trailed South African George Coetzee and Spanish star Sergio Garcia by a single stroke.

Then came a booming drive on the closing par five, a superb five-iron over the water and the best putt of his life for a 69 and 18 under par total.

It came after 19 top 10 finishes from the player who was fifth in the 2008 Open as an amateur and then third a year later at Turnberry.
