Liang finishes second in Japan
Liang Wen-chong capped one of his best performances in his season so far on Sunday.
Liang, who was the Asian Tour of Merit winner, recorded the best round score of seven under-par 65 on the final day for a 17 under-par 271 total at the Japan PGA Championship.
He finished six strokes behind eventual winner, Shingo Katayama of Japan who carded a 67 for a 265 total.
Katayama’s win at the Raysum Golf and Spa Resort is his second since his maiden triumph in 2003 edition.
Meanwhile at the Irish Open, former Asian Tour number one, Jeev Milkha Singh of India struggled with another frustrating round of 74 for a 291 total to end his Irish campaign in tied- 40th position.
Singh got off to an encouraging start when he took a share of the lead after the first round. However he could not reproduce that opening day form and slipped down the ranks in the subsequent rounds.
Two-time Asian Tour winner, Scott Strange of Australia finished the week tied for 35th position after his closing four-day total of 290 left him 12 strokes behind champion, Richard Finch of England.
