The Rams, who had picked up just 11 points all season long prior to their final game, raced to a two-goal lead at the Queenstown Stadium inside six minutes courtesy of goals from Moon Soon-ho and Goh Swee Swee.

Moon then added a third from the spot in the 12th minute to leave the Jaguars reeling, and it began to look as if a routine victory was on the cards for Salim Moin's charges.

However, Asraf Rashid pulled one back for the hosts three minutes after the half-hour mark, before Japanese star Takaya Kawanabe gave his side hope of a comeback when he made it 3-2 in the 60th minute by successfully converting a penalty.

Nonetheless, it proved to be too little too late as Woodlands held out to pick up their first triumph since winning their opening two games of the season.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Albirex Niigata played out a 0-0 draw with Gombak United at the Jurong West Stadium to overtake Harimau Muda and end the year in third, their best-ever finish since joining the competition in 2004.
